Hearts That Heal

As long as we live, they too will live,
for they are now a part of us
as we remember them.

A Bereavement Support Ministry – Hearts That Heal
Sponsored by St. Thomas the Apostle Church and
Community Presbyterian Church
Brigantine, NJ

Our Mission and Hope
…to continue the ministry of Jesus by helping the healing process of those who are experiencing broken hearts.

What is Hearts That Heal?
We gather together for 8-9 sessions
·        to share our sorrow and confusion
·        to confront our loss
·        to readjust to life without the deceased
·        to embrace our memories
·        to re-experience the joy of life

When does the group gather?
We usually offer Hearts that Heal twice a year, once in the fall and in the spring.  We meet weekly for 8-9 sessions.

What happens at the meeting?
We begin our meetings with prayer. To help facilitate our sharing, we use a workbook with readings, sharing questions and practical suggestions. We ask our members to pay for the $10.00 workbook if they are able. We close our gathering with a prayer and we usually have a brief “homework” assignment.

How many people are in the group?
Usually, there are about 9-12 members in the group. Two of the members are trained facilitators.

How do I join?
If you are interested in participating, please call either Marian Hak, 266-4649, or Kathy Murray, 266-8603.

What if I am not Catholic, can I still join?
We welcome all members into our group. Our prayer and workbook have a Christian foundation.
