 Adult Faith Enrichment

The faith that we experienced as a child,
 lovely as it was,
will not serve us as an adult
.

Living faith is the mighty mustard seed that grows into an even mightier tree.
 It changes as we do.

    What steps are you taking
    t
o grow in faith?

"Awakened and energized by the Spirit, let us strengthen our commitment and
intensify our efforts to help the adults in our communities be touched and transformed by
the life-giving message of Jesus, to explore its meaning, experience its power, and live in its
light as faithful adult disciples today. Let us do our part with creativity and vigor, our hearts aflame with love to empower adults to know and live the message of Jesus. This is the Lord's work. In the power of the Spirit it will not fail but will bear lasting fruit for the life of the world."

 St. Dismas Ministry
May we reach out the gentle hand of Christ
                       In situations beyond our understanding.

Mission Statement
People Helping People (Anonymously)

In a spirit of anonymity, we hope to reach out to those in need in Brigantine especially those who may who may be forgotten by others.  Our hope is to invite the St. Thomas community to help us become aware of those in need and to respond to these needs. In this manner, we will empower our faith community to live out our call to be the hands and eyes of Jesus as He looks compassionately on our world.

 How to Serve

Christ has no body now, but ours
No hands, no feet on earth but ours.
Ours are the eyes through He looks
Compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but ours.

We welcome and need many volunteers. You can volunteer by serving on the Steering Committee or to volunteer for any service opportunities such as cooking meals, visiting the homebound, etc.

 Steering Committee
The Steering Committee meets on the third Wednesday of the month in Memorial Hall, 7:00pm. They review any requests for money and plan the direction for the ministry. Please come to any meeting or call Sister Celeste, 923-3112 for more information.

 How to Donate Money
All the good work that this ministry accomplishes is through the Grace of God and the generosity of its benefactors. Without their financial support, we would not be able to find apartments for those who find themselves homeless, pay utilities for those who are without work, provide furniture, give financial help to those who can’t believe they are in “such a hole”. If you wish to contribute to this ministry, please send your donations to;

 Job Transitions Network

Announcing our newest Ministry:  Job Transitions Network

As a parish, we are very much concerned about those

who may be in job transition due  to recent lay-offs.

We have started a new Ministry, The Job Transitions Network,

As a way to support and encourage those who may find themselves

unemployed, underemployed or have the need to re-enter the work

 force.

At this time, our Job Transitions Network is already offering support in the following ways::

  • AN EXPERIENCED HUMAN RESOURCES VOLUNTEER.

Camille is willing and happy to meet with individuals to help them with
resumes and  provide information about job resources.  Please call the rectory
office (266-2123) and ask for contact information.

  • A JOB TRANSITIONS OFFICE where individuals seeking employment can come and use the computer with internet (many jobs are posted online), paper, envelopes (for resumes) , a copier and a fax.  Please call Camille to make an appointment.

  • A JOB BANK.  We can use your help in this area of the ministry.  Are you looking to hire someone?  Please call Camille and let her know about the position.  At the same time, if you are looking for a job, you may want to give Camille a resume.  She will be confidential about any information that she receives.  Please call the parish office for contact information (266-2123).

Confidentiality is Key for our Job Transitions Network

Sometimes, it is difficult for us to admit that we need help.  However, our Job Transitions Network hopes to be the hands and heart of Jesus as you face uncertainty.  If you are looking for a job, please call our Job Transitions Network volunteer, Camille, who can serve as a listening ear and offer support.  Her experience in human resources could help you

focus your job search, create an exciting resume and seek out possible job opportunities.  What is shared in the Job Transitions Network stays in the Job Transitions Network.  Don’t be alone in your struggle, let us help you.
